RESUMO

The aim of this study is to determine the effect of women's insight levels on their breast cancer prevention behaviors in primary health care services. A systematic sampling method was used to select a sample of 393 women in a province in Turkey. Socio-demographic Characteristics Form, Insight Scale and Scale for Determining Factors Affecting Women's Breast Cancer Prevention Behaviour were used as data collection tools. Data were collected face-to-face and then analyzed statistically using Student's t-test, one-way analysis of variance, Tukey HSD, Spearman correlation test and multiple regression analysis. The results showed that those who felt "healthy" had significantly higher mean breast cancer prevention behavior (p < .05). It was determined that there was a weak positive correlation between the level of insight and breast cancer prevention behaviors, and the increase in the level of insight had a significant positive effect of 0.37 ± 0.051 points on breast cancer prevention behaviors. It was found that there was a significant negative effect on prevention behaviors with 1.66 ± 0.796 points in those with a high education level and 1.58 ± 0.505 points in those with suspected disease. In conclusion, in this study, it was determined that insight level, education level, and awareness of early diagnosis affected the prevention behaviors of breast cancer.

RESUMO

The current cross-sectional descriptive study was performed to determine the effect of young adults' attitudes regarding social gender roles on perceived social support level in health behaviors. Participants comprised 209 young adults aged 18 to 21 years. Data collection tools included a sociodemographic characteristics form, the Gender Roles Attitude Scale, and Child and Adolescent Social Support Scale for Healthy Behaviors (CASSS-HB). Data were analyzed using percentile, correlation, and regression analysis. A significant positive correlation was found between total CASSS-HB score and the egalitarian gender role subdimension of the Gender Roles Attitude Scale. It was determined that participants with an egalitarian perspective toward gender roles had increased levels of social support in health behaviors. RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: The study was conducted to investigate the effect of technology addiction training given to nursing students on their Internet and technology addiction perspectives and addiction levels. METHOD: The data of the experimental research with a control group and a pretest-posttest design were collected online using the Personal Information Form and the Technology Addiction Scale. Sample size was 82. Technology addiction training was given for 10 weeks. Post-test data were collected after the training. The Mann Whitney-U test, t-test, Tukey HSD test, Kruskal Wallis test, and Bonferroni-Dunn test were used for statistical analysis. The Fisher's Exact Test and the Chi-Square test were used to analyze the categorical variables. RESULTS: The level of technology addiction of the students in the experimental group was 52.69 ± 17.218 in the pre-test and 51.31 ± 14.931 in the post-test. In the control group, the level of technology addiction was found to be 54.03 ± 18.955 in the pre-test and 53.39 ± 20.159 in the post-test. Thus, it can be stated that the students in both groups were moderately addicted to technology and no significant difference was observed between the pre-test and post-test mean scores of the groups after the training. CONCLUSION: The study revealed that the students were moderately addicted to technology and used technological devices at a high rate. In addition, the ineffectiveness of the training, and being aware of the harms of technology, but disregarding the importance of these harms were the interesting findings that showed the severity of the problem. RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Spiritual well-being is directly related to the quality of life in breast cancer patients. Mindfulness-based therapy interventions can decrease distress levels in women with breast cancer, while improving spiritual well-being. OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effect of mindfulness-based therapy on spiritual well-being in breast cancer patients. METHODS: This randomized controlled clinical trial was conducted in accordance with the Consolidated Standards of Reporting Trials. A total of 70 participants were enrolled from September, 2021 to July, 2022. Primary outcome included spiritual well-being, and secondary outcome included quality of life. The data were collected using the Patient Sociodemographic and Medical Data Form and Functional Assessment of Chronic Illness Therapy-Spiritual Well-Being (SpWB) (FACIT-Sp Version 4). In the statistical analysis, the independent sample t test and paired sample t test were used to examine the intervention effect on primary and secondary outcomes, according to numbers, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and conformity to normal distribution. RESULTS: The average age of the therapy group was 42.22 ± 6.86, and the control group was 41.64 ± 6.04. The average score of meaning (12.25 ± 3.03), overall score average of the spiritual well-being (31.56 ± 8.90), the emotional well-being (13.46 ± 5.78) and physical well-being (16.71 ± 5.59), and overall average score of the quality of life (66.98 ± 17.72) of the therapy group was statistically significantly higher (p < 0.05). CONCLUSION: The mindfulness-based training may enhance the spiritual well-being and quality of life of breast cancer patients. Nurses should be encouraged for mindfulness-based training sessions to make it a widespread practice, and to regularly evaluate the results. RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to determine the effect of the perceived social support level on coping methods for urinary incontinence among men aged 65 years and over with urinary incontinence. METHODS: A total of 92 male patients over the age of 65 years with urinary incontinence and adequate cognitive levels were included in the study. The coping methods, the environmental support, and the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support were used to collect data. RESULTS: The most common method of coping was changing clothes (64 [69.6%]). The Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support total mean score was 55.83±14.8, which was considered above the medium-level support. The perception level of social support caused significant differences in coping methods in individuals with urinary incontinence. CONCLUSION: The view that urinary incontinence is a problem related to aging is regarded as an obstacle to seeking healthcare. Society should be made aware that urinary incontinence is not a normal condition related to aging and that it is not an insoluble problem that the elderly must endure.

RESUMO

The aim of this study is to determine the COVID-19 phobia level in healthcare workers. The socio-demographic characteristics form and the Coronavirus 19 Phobia (CP19-S) Scale were used as data collection tools. The surveys were shared online on social media. 467 healthcare workers who agreed to participate in the study were reached. Employees who got 55.30 ± 14.64 points from the scale total scores and university graduates were found to have an average of 55.51 ± 14.11, and their families averaged 57.84 ± 15.05. As a result, it was determined that the COVID-19 phobia levels of healthcare workers were affected by situations such as gender, education level and elderly family members. In this case, the importance of determining the working areas of healthcare professionals according to their phobia levels is emphasized, as it will affect the quality of care given to patients during the pandemic process.

RESUMO

AIM: The aim of this study is to develop a scale for evaluating nurses' willingness to provide care to patients during the pandemic process. METHOD: This research is a methodological research such as scale development, validity and reliability research. The research was conducted between September and October 2020. Expert opinions were obtained from 20 people, including specialist nurses, lecturers, and faculty members, during the development process of the scale. Construct validity-exploratory factor analysis and construct validity-confirmatory factor analysis were used in statistical analysis. Item-total score correlation analyses and Cronbach's alpha values were used to assess internal consistency. RESULTS: A draft of 22 items in total and 4 of them explaining 50% of the total variance of exploratory factor analysis was obtained. Compliance obtained with DFA is achieved. Also, as χ2 = 775.675, degrees of freedom = 203, CMIN/degrees of freedom (2/degrees of freedom) = 3.82, P = .000, goodness-of-fit index = .87, adjusted goodness-of-fit index = .85, comparative fit index = .92, root mean square error of approximation = .073, state regression loads were determined between .41 and .70. In our study, item-total correlation values were .30-.61 and Cronbach's alpha value was .86. CONCLUSION: It can be said that all items in the scale provide item validity, and the internal consistency coefficients of the overall scale and its sub-dimensions are good and sufficient.

RESUMO

The aim of the study is to determine the psychological well-being of patients who underwent stem cell transplantation. This cross-sectional study was conducted with 100 patients. Data were collected face-to-face using an introductory information form and the Brief Symptom Inventory. When the results of the patients were examined, the interpersonal sensitivity of the sub-dimensions of the scale was found to be 5.0 ± 4.06, depression 7.60 ± 5.37, and anxiety disorder 7.90 ± 5.34. There was a significant difference between the diagnosistime of the patients and all sub-factors of the scale, except phobic anxiety. It was found that the psychological state of the patients was directly related to the time of first diagnosis. As a result, the importance of following the psychological processof the patients during the treatment process was revealed when planning nursing care.

RESUMO

The aim of this research is to find the effect of mindfulness-based education given to individuals with substance-use disorder according to self-efficacy theory on self-efficacy perception. The research was planned as a test model with pretest-posttest control groups. Individuals who have been diagnosed with substance abuse in the substance abuse clinic of Turgut Ozal Medical Center, and at the Substance Abuse Treatment and Education Centre of Gaziantep 25 Aralik State Hospital formed the core of this study. The research was conducted between January 2018-May 2019. 112 patients, 56 in the treatment and 56 in the control group, participated in the study. Scientific research started after ethical approval. Mindfulness therapy was applied to experimental group patients. For the data collection, the Socio-Demographic Characteristics Questionnaire and Self-Efficacy-Sufficiency scale were used. t-Test for dependent variables to compare the mean scores of experimental and control groups and t-test for independent variables were used. It was seen that the average total Self-Efficacy-Sufficiency score of the patients in the treatment group was 76.50 ± 12.62 before the intervention and increased to 85.50 ± 14.95 after the intervention. There is a significant difference between the average scores. Even when the treatment and control groups are compared, a significant difference was still detected between the groups. There was no significant difference between the groups in two of the Self-Efficacy-Sufficiency steps after the intervention in the experimental group, but there were significant differences between the other two factors and total score averages.
